Proud to be an American

God bless America, This land is your land, and Star Spangled Banner where all playing at my English friend's house here in Sydney on the 4th of July! We had a bang up celebration with the works.  No fire works but everything else was present.  It is ironic that the 4th of July is the celebration of the colonies independence from Great Britain and about 75% of the attendees were English.  Gotta love their hospitality.  It was a jolly great day! Check out everyone in their red white and blue! All the usual suspects were there:

Uncle Sam and his leading lady

The cowboy and his patriotic maven

The flatmate of the cowboy and his maven
Yankee Doodle's pony

Team USA

Kay eating a cake sandwich
Even Ben wanted a biteMy favorite is Mikko's son Kay eating the cake sandwich. He was off the wall. So off the wall that he walked straight into the sliding glass door. Poor fella.

Donna had her picnic dress on

Thank you to Sierra, Sheila, and Aine for making it top notch and completely over the top with all of the decorations.

The s'mores were a hit! No one knew what they were and they LOVED them.  Graham crackers are not as appetizing on their own but when they get that chocolate and marshmallow on there they were a crowd pleaser.

This was the view from Nicki's house.  Still in beautiful Sydney. :) Only 3.5 weeks to go. :(

What kind of 4th of July would it be without the hula hoop.  Which is sweeping the nation by the way.

See below. It even came out last Friday night which I included a picture of. They LOVE it!

It was great to see everyone embracing American tradition and being so open to the fun.  I was the only American present but the spirit was alive and well.  I hope everyone had a happy 4th. :) Miss you and will see you all very, very, soon.

On a side note, we went to see Eclipse tonight.  AMAZING! I can't get over it.  Fantastic job! Donna told me that she hoped to see the hula hoop in Breaking Dawn in the wedding scene.  Classic. Here is a pic of Donna and I.  She is originally England and living the good ole Aussie dream here.  She is a hoot!  I included som other pics that are fun as well to document the patriotic day.
